Variants

One product, many combinations

To manage variants, sizes and finishes in price lists you describe a base item and link the options that vary it. Each combination inherits the common data and adds only what changes.

This way the price list does not become an endless list of copied rows, and changes to the base product are reflected in all its variants. This is the method we follow in Cantù, in the province of Como.

Before generating the document, it helps to clarify the logic of the combinations.

To link images and technical drawings to products, each file is associated with the item code and a precise role: main photo, detail or drawing. With a single archive and clear naming rules the system picks the right file. Product photos can be produced by our studio in Cantù.

If data is scattered across Excel files, the first step is to consolidate product data into a single base: the files are catalogued, duplicates and obsolete versions removed, and the correct one chosen. Then the data flows into the ERP, a PIM or the generation system. We do this for companies in Como, Brianza, Milan and Lugano.

To check product data quality you verify completeness, consistency and up-to-dateness before the data ends up in documents. An automatic system also reproduces errors, so upstream checks on empty fields and inconsistent formats are needed, plus a preview after every regeneration. From Cantù we support companies in Como and Brianza with this check.

To tell whether your price lists are ready for automation, check whether the data exists in an ERP, a PIM or structured files, whether it is consistent, and whether families, variants and attributes have a structure. An initial check with our Cantù team clarifies the rest.

The price list contains the ERP data useful to the reader: item codes, descriptions, prices, sales units and applicable terms. Together we decide which fields to show and which to keep internal, with the ERP as the single source, for companies in Brianza and the province of Como.
