Three languages, including Chinese, for distant markets

Website development for a luxury furniture company

Hessentia Cornelio Cappellini is a company specialising in ‘Made in Italy’ furniture, based in Brianza, a region internationally renowned for its excellence in designer furniture. The collections include sofas, armchairs, tables, chairs, beds and high-end accessories, characterised by fine materials, contemporary lines and meticulous craftsmanship.

The most significant decision regarding the project concerns the languages. The website is available in Italian, English and Chinese: the latter is not merely a courtesy translation but a market-driven decision, as Italian luxury furniture has an established market in Asia and presenting the brand in the customer’s own language shapes brand perception even before the content is considered.

The catalogue covers the entire home, from sofas to lighting, right through to rugs and outdoor furniture, but the website is not limited to products. The section dedicated to materials features the integrated Moodboard Creator. The Moodboard Creator is a tool developed by our agency and adopted across several projects in the furniture sector: it allows visitors to create combinations of materials and finishes directly on the website. In the high-end furniture sector, choosing finishes is the most time-consuming stage of the negotiation process and usually takes place in the showroom, in front of the samples. Bringing part of this process online means that customers arrive at their appointment with their ideas already formed, reducing the number of meetings needed to finalise the deal.

Alongside this, a section highlights the handmade processes in Italy, clearly showcasing the craftsmanship behind each piece.

The members’ area goes beyond simple secure access. The system allows for the management of content tailored to different user groups, so that each category of user sees only what is relevant to them. Price lists are updated in real time thanks to a direct link to the company’s ERP system, eliminating any discrepancy between published and actual prices. The system also automatically generates, in PDF format, product sheets and price lists – both for individual items and in a general version – which retailers can download as and when they need them without having to request them from the company.

The project is rounded off by a magazine for editorial content, a presentation of the Milan gallery and a store locator to find the network’s retail outlets. For a brand that distributes through selected retailers across several continents, this latter feature is what links the interest generated online to actual sales.

A third language is a market-driven decision

Speaking the customer’s language changes their perception of the brand

The decision to publish the website in Chinese as well, alongside Italian and English, is the most significant aspect of this project. It is not merely a courtesy translation: Italian luxury furniture has an established market in Asia, and presenting the brand in the customer’s own language shapes their perception of the brand even before they read the content.

It is a choice that involves real work, because a third language means the URL structure, metadata and content management all have to be scaled up. But it is precisely the sort of investment that distinguishes a brand that genuinely exports from one that merely claims to do so. We’re based in Brianza, the district where these companies are born, and we know the difference.

NewVisibility was founded in 2013 by Andrea and Luca, lifelong friends who had already been building websites for several years before giving themselves a name. Since then, we have worked with over three hundred clients. We are a team on a human scale: you speak directly to the people working on your project, with no middlemen, even after the site goes live.

NewVisibility, a web development agency in the province of Como, which designed the multilingual structure and developed the brand's website.

High-end Made in Italy furniture: sofas, armchairs, tables, chairs, beds and accessories, with fine materials, contemporary lines and careful craftsmanship.

Because Italian luxury furniture has an established market in Asia. Presenting the brand in the customer's own language changes how it is perceived, even before the content.

A tool that lets visitors put together combinations of materials and finishes directly on the website, bringing the longest stage of the negotiation online.

Through a direct link to the company's ERP system: published prices always match the actual ones, with no manual updates.

Manage content tailored to different user groups, consult price lists updated in real time through the ERP link, and download product sheets and price lists generated automatically in PDF.

URL structure, metadata and content multiplied for each version, with correct hreflang tags so that search engines serve each market the right version.

To support the choice of finishes, which is the longest stage in high-end furniture. The moodboards suggest combinations instead of leaving the customer in front of isolated samples.
