What is the difference between UI and UX in an award-winning site?

The difference between UI and UX in an award-winning site is this: UI is the interface, what you see; UX is the user experience, what you feel while navigating.

They are two distinct areas, which is why the Best UI Design and Best UX Design recognitions appear as separate items next to the sites listed on our Awards page. A site can be beautiful but tiring to use, or simple to use but little cared for in its appearance: the serious work lies in keeping them together.

For us they are not two phases in sequence. Research on visual language, information architecture and interface systems proceed together, because aesthetics, usability and digital innovation sit on the same level.

Two perspectives

Interface, experience and innovation

Three words that describe three aspects of the same site.

For those choosing

How to use this distinction

If you are evaluating a website for your company in Como, Brianza or Milan, look at the two things separately: open the site and see how it is made, then try using it the way one of your customers would. Look for a piece of information, move from one page to another, go back.

It is the same exercise we recommend when looking at the projects in our web portfolio. From our base in Cantù, in the province of Como, we have worked with this double perspective for more than 20 years.

The same site can have Special Kudos and the UI, UX and Innovation awards because they are separate items: UI, UX and Innovation look at interface, experience and innovation, while the Special Kudos is a recognition in its own right. We do not invent reasons that the Awards page does not give for our Cantù projects.

Pagano (2026), Italian Fit Out (2023), CLJD shoes (2021) and Cierre (2020) show Special Kudos, Best UI, UX and Innovation; Hessentia (2025) and Villa Clementina (2024) show Special Kudos in UI, UX and Innovation. They are sites built by the team in Cantù, in the province of Como.

For visitors to the website of a company in Como or Brianza, Best UX Design means finding your way around with no effort and quickly reaching what interests you. It is a general reading of the field, with no promise of results: it is how our team in Cantù designs websites.

All the sites listed on the Awards page received a Special Kudos: Pagano, Hessentia, Villa Clementina, Italian Fit Out, CLJD shoes, Cierre, JCP Universe and MisuraEmme. They are projects by the agency in Cantù, in the province of Como, recognised from 2017 to 2026, with different categories from site to site.

The CSS Design Awards look at the design, usability and innovation of a site; NewVisibility's sites have been recognised in the categories Special Kudos, Best UI, Best UX and Best Innovation. For companies in Como, Brianza and Milan, these are concrete aspects to look for in a new website.
