Website redesign for a restaurant in the province of Como
For Ristorante Da Rosa we handled the complete redesign of the website, with the aim of refreshing its digital image and improving the user experience, making it more up to date, intuitive and in line with the restaurant's identity.
Redesigning a restaurant website has a feature that sets it apart from other sectors: if the existing website has been working for a few years, it has already built a ranking in local searches. People looking for somewhere to eat in a specific area find it, and that result comes from time more than from any single action. Rebuilding the website without taking this into account means starting from zero on ground that had already been won.
That is why the work covered both form and continuity: renewing the visual language and the structure while keeping the addresses of the pages that generated traffic and managing redirects where the structure changed. It is the part of a redesign that you cannot see, and that only gets noticed months later if it is neglected.
On the user experience side, the work focused on the paths that lead to a concrete result: viewing the menus and booking, which in a restaurant are the two moments that really count. The website is bilingual, Italian and English, and online booking can be reached from every page, because people decide to book at an unpredictable moment while browsing and should not have to look for it.
A badly managed redesign throws away years of ranking
A restaurant that has had a website for a few years owns an asset that does not appear on any screen: the position it holds in the local searches of people looking for somewhere to eat nearby. It is the result of time, not of a single action.
Rebuilding the website without taking this into account means starting from zero on ground already won. That is why the most delicate part of a redesign is continuity: keeping the addresses that generate traffic and managing redirects where the structure changes. You cannot see it by looking at the new website, but you notice it in the following months if it is neglected.
NewVisibility was founded in 2013 from an idea by Andrea and Luca, lifelong friends who had already been building websites for several years before giving themselves a name. Since then we have worked with more than three hundred clients. We are a human-sized team: you speak directly with the people working on your project, with no intermediaries, even after launch.
Read our manifesto
NewVisibility, a communication agency in the province of Como, which refreshed the digital image and user experience of the restaurant's website.
Renewing the visual language and structure while keeping what works, in particular the addresses of pages that have already built a ranking.
Losing the visibility already earned. A website that has been live for years holds positions in local searches that are lost if addresses change without redirects.
On the paths that lead to a result: viewing the menus and booking. In a restaurant these are the two moments that determine whether the website works.
Because the decision to book comes at an unpredictable moment while browsing. If the button is not within reach at that moment, the opportunity is lost.
When the image no longer matches the restaurant or when browsing on mobile is hard work. Not for the sake of fashion: a website that works should be improved, not replaced.
Yes, it is an important part of our work. We keep the ranking and the content that generate traffic instead of starting from zero.
