Website for a trattoria with takeaway

To meet its customers' needs during the health emergency, in April 2020 Trattoria Cibo Sano asked our agency to build a new website with the ability to manage its takeaway service.

The date matters. In those weeks restaurants were facing an unprecedented situation and most turned to delivery platforms, the only immediate solution. But those platforms take a commission on every order and, less obviously, do not give the restaurant back its relationship with the customer.

Building its own website at that moment meant choosing a slower path, but one it would remain in control of. For a restaurant with a loyal local clientele, like a trattoria, it was also the most sensible choice: the customers were already there, they just needed a way to order.

The website has outlasted that context. The structure is deliberately essential, with the restaurant's presentation, the à la carte menu, the takeaway section and contact details: five sections for a business that lives on its local catchment area and for which the website has to do one thing, be found quickly by people deciding where to eat. The digital menu, which can be consulted via QR code from the tables, runs on the same website.

April 2020: building fast without choosing badly

In April 2020 the quickest route for a restaurant was to sign up to a delivery platform. Immediate, with no investment, but with a commission on every order and the relationship with the customer ending up with the app.

With Trattoria Cibo Sano we instead built its own channel, in a few weeks. For a neighbourhood trattoria with a loyal clientele it was also the most sensible choice: the customers were there, only a way to order was missing. Working fast did not stop us choosing well, and the website has remained in use long after the emergency that made it urgent.

NewVisibility was founded in 2013 by Andrea and Luca, lifelong friends who had already been building websites for several years before giving themselves a name. Since then we have worked with more than three hundred clients. We are a team on a human scale: you talk directly to the people working on your project, with no intermediaries, even after launch.

Because platforms take a commission on every order and do not give the restaurant back its relationship with the customer, which stays with the app.

Yes, but for a trattoria with a loyal local clientele its own channel made more sense: the customers were there, only a way to order was missing.

Because the restaurant lives on its local catchment area. The website has to be found quickly by people deciding where to eat, not offer elaborate navigation.

Yes. Takeaway has become a stable channel for many restaurants, and the website continues to serve people looking for the menu or information before they visit.

It is a separate project but runs on the same website: the QR code on the tables opens the menu pages without requiring any app.

Yes, we work with several businesses in the Cantù area, tailoring the structure to the real catchment area and to fast browsing on mobile.
