Website for an industrial packaging company
Melas, a company based in the province of Como specialising in wooden industrial packaging solutions, chose our agency in Cantù to build a new website that is modern, high-performing and easy to navigate.
The key design issue stems from a feature of this trade: bespoke packaging is defined more by what it has to protect than by what it is. A crate for an industrial machine and one for a work of art may look similar but meet opposite requirements, and customers search by their own sector before the type of item.
That is why the website works on two parallel keys. The first is products, with six types each on its own page: crates, cages, pallets, saddles, beams and battens, skids and bases. The second is the sectors served, eight in total, from industrial machinery to mechanical plants, from furniture to electrical panels, through to fields with very specific requirements such as aerospace, medical, energy and works of art.
It is this second key that makes the commercial difference, because it lets a logistics manager recognise immediately that the company has already tackled their problem. The project is completed by the projects section, which documents finished work with concrete cases.
Packaging is defined by what it has to protect
In bespoke industrial packaging there is one particularity that changes everything: a crate is not defined by itself but by what it has to contain. Protecting a machine, an electrical panel or a work of art involves completely different requirements, even when the item looks similar.
That is why, with Melas, we gave sectors the same weight as products, with eight dedicated areas. A logistics manager looking for someone to pack an aerospace component first wants to know whether the company has already worked in that context: it is the question that comes before any technical discussion, and the website has to answer it straight away.
