E-commerce development for an online jewellery shop
Because of the health emergency, the Gold & Co. jewellery shop in Gallarate, like many other retailers, had to adapt to meet its customers' needs. It turned to our agency to build an online shop where customers could buy jewellery and accessories and receive them at home by shipping or home delivery.
Our team designed the platform on Magento, one of the most widely used and reliable e-commerce systems in the world. But what really sets this project apart is not the platform: it is the integration. The site is fully synchronised with the jewellery shop's management software, so it provides accurate real-time information and handles orders through a single warehouse.
It is the difference between an e-commerce site that sits next to the shop and one that is part of it. In a jewellery shop, pieces are often unique or available in very small numbers, and without synchronisation there is a real risk of selling online an item that has just left the shop window. The single warehouse removes that risk at the root and avoids entering products twice by hand.
The catalogue is also organised by brand, with dedicated pages for each brand stocked, the right choice in a sector where customers often look for the maker before the model. Purchasing takes just a few clicks and is completely secure, thanks to HTTPS and SSL protocols and payment methods such as PayPal and Stripe, internationally recognised networks. The checkout is split into separate steps for delivery method and payment method.
Integration with the management software is what makes an e-commerce site useful
In a jewellery shop many pieces are unique or available in very small numbers. In that context, an e-commerce site that is not connected to the management software will sooner or later sell something that is no longer there: the item leaves the shop window and the site keeps offering it.
That is why, with Gold & Co, the most important work was not the design but the synchronisation with the management software, with orders handled on a single warehouse. It is the kind of work you cannot see by looking at the site, but it decides whether the e-commerce really works or creates problems for the shop. We connect websites to the systems a company already uses, because an extra channel should not mean extra work.
NewVisibility was founded in 2013 by Andrea and Luca, lifelong friends who had already been building websites for several years before giving themselves a name. Since then we have worked with more than three hundred clients. We are a human-sized team: you talk directly to the people working on your project, with no intermediaries, even after launch.
Read our manifesto
NewVisibility, a web development agency in Cantù, in the province of Como, which designed the platform on Magento and handled the integration with the jewellery shop's management software.
It means the site reads product availability and information from the company system in real time, and orders are handled on a single warehouse shared with the shop.
Because many pieces are unique or available in very small numbers. Without synchronisation you risk selling online an item that has just left the window of the physical shop.
No, and that is one of the main advantages. Products live in the management software and the site reads them from there, avoiding double manual entry and mismatches.
Because in jewellery and watchmaking customers often look for the maker before the model. Dedicated pages for the brands stocked capture that kind of search.
Yes. The site uses HTTPS and SSL protocols and handles payments through PayPal and Stripe, networks recognised internationally for their reliability.
Yes, it is an important part of our work. We connect websites to the systems a company already uses, so the online channel does not create extra work.
