Three areas for three audiences, one click apart

Website creation for an artisan glassworks

Artigiano del Vetro is the Cantù glassworks that has served the province of Como for more than fifty years. To help it become known beyond its traditional catchment area, our web agency team created a responsive website that is easy for everyone to use.

What makes the project distinctive is its structure, which answers a concrete problem: the glassworks deals with very different customers. There is the company commissioning work to specification, the private customer who needs a job done at home, and the person looking directly for a finished product. Three different needs that, in a single menu, would have got in each other's way.

We therefore split the website into three areas, leaving users to choose which one to explore: Azienda (business), Privato (private) and Shop. Each area has its own identifying colour and users can switch from one to another at any time with a single click. The colour code is not decorative, it is the wayfinding system: it tells visitors where they are without the need for labels or backtracking.

It is a solution to a recurring issue for artisan businesses, where a business channel and a consumer channel often coexist under the same name. Instead of choosing which one to favour at the expense of the other, segmenting by area gives each audience its own path and lets the website compete for distinct searches.

The best solutions come from constraints, not templates

A glassworks that serves both companies and private customers, and also sells finished products, does not fit well into a standard website. The menu grows longer, the pages start to look alike and visitors looking for one thing scroll through content that does not concern them. It is a real constraint, and constraints are the moment you see whether an agency designs or just assembles.

For Artigiano del Vetro the answer was to split the website into three colour-coded areas, switchable with one click: a structure no ready-made theme offers, because it comes from that specific problem. We have worked with artisans in the Cantù area since we started, and we recognise this kind of issue straight away.

NewVisibility was founded in 2013 from an idea by Andrea and Luca, lifelong friends who had already been building websites for more than 20 years before giving themselves a name. Since then we have worked with more than three hundred clients. We are a human-sized team: you speak directly with the people working on your project, with no intermediaries, even after launch.

NewVisibility, a web agency in Cantù, in the province of Como, which designed the three-area structure, handled the graphic design and developed the responsive website.

Azienda (business), Privato (private) and Shop: one for business clients, one for private customers and one dedicated to finished products that can be bought directly.

Because when a business serves both business clients and private customers, a single menu forces each of them to go through irrelevant content before reaching what they are looking for.

To guide without explaining. The colour tells users which section they are in, replacing labels and navigation elements that would weigh down every page.

Yes, with a single click and at any time. There is no need to go back to the homepage or retrace the menu: the three areas are always reachable from each other.

Yes. Local word of mouth remains the main channel but it does not scale: the website reaches people searching Google for the service without knowing the name of the glassworks.

Yes, it is an important part of our work in the Cantù and Como area. We design websites tailored to the real needs of the business and easy to manage.
