WhatsApp is getting a green tick: what it is and who needs it
After the much-loved and much-hated blue ticks, WhatsApp, the famous smartphone messaging service, plans to add the green tick, useful for verifying some business accounts and protecting us from possible scams.
The system will in fact be able to check that business accounts are not fake and will certify their authenticity by adding this green tick.
It can in fact happen that some ill-intentioned people use well-known brands to push users to open links to fake promotions, ads or discounts. With the addition of this check, that will no longer happen.
The new strategy aims to make WhatsApp increasingly useful for businesses. It is no coincidence that in the very same days in which this news was made official, the company announced its intention to make its business service paid for large airlines, e-commerce sites and banks, which can use it to send promotional, advertising or informational messages to their customers, while keeping it free for small and medium-sized businesses.
