Photos and images: why optimise them?
For years our web agency has been taking care of every business at 360 degrees, starting with images and photos.
We rely on the best professionals in the province of Como to produce original, polished shots, whose relevance matters when you want to convey a clear message that is incisive and impactful.
Very often customers' attention is captured by images rather than by the message or the company mission, but there is a difference between the images or photos used to build a website and those used for a company catalogue.
The photos uploaded to a website are low resolution: they are light so as not to slow the website down, and they are optimised.
But what does optimise mean?
The word has a twofold meaning: on one hand it means assessing upfront the number of photos to upload to a site or to a single page, on the other taking quality and resolution into account.
At NewVisibility, when we build a website for a business whose photo shoot we have handled, we adopt small measures that make the website functional and fast.
For every photo we reduce its weight: the ideal image should in fact have a resolution of 72 dpi (dots per inch) to avoid slowing down the website; we reduce its size, resizing the photo so as not to alter its proportions, and finally we compress each image so that it takes up less space than the original.
The formats our communication agency recommends to clients for uploading images and photos to the web are:
- JPEG, the most widespread and widely used, especially for photographs because it considerably reduces their weight;
- PNG, used when we at NewVisibility need a white background to create a logo;
- GIF, a format that has recently come back into fashion thanks to the possibility of creating striking and fun animations.
For a web agency like ours, these tips are essential to get a fast website whose content can be viewed without problems.
