Google Fred: A New Algorithm Update?

Google Fred: a new algorithm update?

SEO experts will have noticed significant movements in Google's SERP recently: these sudden fluctuations could be due to a new algorithm from the Mountain View giant.

We unfortunately have to use the conditional, as no confirmation has come from Google about what is happening; as always it chooses not to commit itself to users and industry experts.

Google's two spokespeople, Mueller and Illyes, respond with diplomacy and a touch of irony to the numerous questions posted on various social networks by those affected by the change in SERP rankings.

A logical explanation could be linked to Google's wish to improve link quality, hitting and penalising sites that use illicit SEO techniques while at the same time rewarding those who use it in the best way.

What seems to have been analysed most closely is content: you should not create websites with the sole aim of ranking them on search engines, but give users useful and interesting information.
