20 years of Google, the search engine that changed our lives
Back in 1998, two young men in a garage founded Google, the company that would soon change the way we search the internet.
Today that small company is a web giant and the most visited site in the world, with around three billion searches a day, so much so that it gave rise to the widespread English neologism "to google", which has become a synonym for "searching the web".
Over the years the little search engine has grown and given rise to several indispensable features and services, such as image search, the management of advertising with Google Ads (formerly AdWords), online maps and the YouTube video platform, up to Chrome and even an operating system.
Google's mission, since its beginning, has been to organise the world's information and make it accessible to everyone, giving priority to the pages most relevant to our search.
In these years the search engine has received many updates and improvements, and the team at our communication agency has kept studying the various changes to the algorithm behind Google, in order to optimise the websites we build and make them easy to read for users and search engines alike.
What does the future hold? Let's see what Big G has in store; for now all that's left is to wish happy birthday, Google!
